Keep your workplace safe with these clear and concise operating procedures for electric hoists.
1. Qualified Operators Only
Only certified and trained personnel may operate the hoist.
Never allow unauthorized or untrained staff to use it.
2. Pre-Use Inspection is a Must
Check the wire rope, hook, and brakes for damage.
Test the limit switches and emergency stop button.
Always perform a trial lift (~10 cm off the ground) to verify the brake holds.
3. Never, Ever Overload
Know the weight of the load and never exceed the hoist's rated capacity.
This is the most critical rule for preventing catastrophic failure.
4. Secure the Load Properly
Ensure the load is balanced and securely rigged.
Use edge protectors on sharp corners to prevent sling damage.
5. Operate with Care & Awareness
Lift and lower smoothly to prevent load swing.
Keep hands clear of pinch points.
Never stand under a suspended load.
Keep the load low while moving.
6. Respond Immediately to Problems
If you hear unusual noises, smell burning, or see anything wrong, STOP IMMEDIATELY.
Report the issue to a supervisor and do not resume until it's fixed.
7. Park and Power Down Safely
When finished, raise the hook to a safe height.
Move the hoist to its designated parking spot.
Turn off the main power supply.
8. Maintain Good Housekeeping
Ensure the wire rope is spooled neatly on the drum.
Keep the work area clean and clear of obstacles.
